Terms of Coverage
Rohingya Monitor focuses on crimes, abuses, human rights violations, and other matters affecting the Rohingya community. Our coverage primarily focuses on the Rohingya refugee camps, Arakan State of Myanmar, and other places where developments directly concern the Rohingya.
We focus particularly on incidents that are underreported, overlooked, difficult to document, or misrepresented. Our coverage may include crimes, violence, abuse, exploitation, threats, disappearances, human rights violations, disinformation or fake news and other serious incidents affecting individuals or the entire Rohingya community.
Our reporting is based on information gathered through our ground team, victims, witnesses, and other available sources. We investigate and review information before reporting it, but the availability and reliability of information may vary from case to case, particularly where access to an incident is limited or security conditions make independent verification difficult but we are dedicated to fill it with our network from various areas.
Rohingya Monitor may document information about alleged perpetrators as part of its investigative database. However, being reported or listed in our internal records does not by itself mean that a person has been legally established as a criminal. We distinguish between allegations, reported information, investigated findings, and official decisions.
Not every incident or piece of information received by Rohingya Monitor will be published. We may withhold information when it cannot be sufficiently verified, when publication could put a source or another person at unnecessary risk, or when legal and safety considerations require us to keep the information confidential.
Our coverage is intended to provide accurate information, support public awareness, preserve documentation, and help relevant authorities and members of the media better understand incidents affecting the Rohingya. We do not claim that every incident can be identified, investigated, or documented, particularly in situations where information is limited or access is restricted.
Rohingya Monitor may update, correct, or revise published information when new and reliable information becomes available. We take accuracy seriously and encourage anyone with relevant information or a legitimate correction to contact us.
