Armed RSO members abducted a 16-year-old girl from Block 8 in Hakimpara Camp 14 on the night of 29 October 2026. Around 15 to 20 men with guns and swords took her from her shelter after firing a shot into the air. As of 30 October evening, 19 hours later, she remains in RSO detention.

The militant Arakan Army detained elderly Rohingya man Mohammad Eliyas from Dar Paing Sa Yar village in Buthidaung after raiding his house on the night of 27 October. AA members beat him during the arrest. His family still does not know why he was taken or where he is being held.
Four Rohingya civilians, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed when Myanmar military naval forces opened fire on a fishing boat on the Kaladan River near Sittwe on 27 October 2026. The victims were from Anauk Ye IDP camp.
A 32-year-old Rohingya woman, Sufaira, was allegedly raped by RSO member Mohammed Elias in Camp 14 early on 26 October 2026 after he forced entry into her shelter. Nearby residents caught him, but other armed RSO members rescued him and took him to Camp 11. Cases of rape by RSO members have risen over the past four years.
Six Rohingya-owned shops near Phayon Chaung Bridge in Buthidaung were demolished in March 2026 for being too close to a road. New shops are now being built on the exact same site and prepared for auction, raising questions among residents about unequal enforcement of the rules.
RSO members abducted and severely assaulted NGO volunteer Shamsu Alom in Camp 8W on 23 October 2026. Around 20 attackers beat him with sticks and rods at a football field and tried to kill him. He was later released after police intervention and is now receiving medical treatment.
A Rohingya man named Pacifist Farooq posted on Facebook that his 14-year-old nephew was forcibly recruited by the militant Arakan Army from Buthidaung and is now reportedly being sent to the frontline in Sittwe. He said the boy should be in school, not carrying a gun.
For the first time, 63 Rohingya students, including 28 girls, sat for an internationally recognised primary education exam in Nayapara and Kutupalong camps on 25 October 2026. UNHCR plans to expand the exams to lower secondary level in 2027 and introduce IGCSE by 2028.
Aflatoxin has been detected in 135 tonnes of Indian rice stored at Halishahar depot in Chattogram. The shipment initially passed inspection but later tested positive. Distribution of thousands of tonnes has been suspended. Contaminated rice poses health risks, especially for vulnerable groups including Rohingya refugees.
